A person is arrested if the police believe a crime has been committed. If after reviewing the evidence given either during a police interview or after receiving it from witnesses, they believe there is a case to answer, then the person will be prosecuted. Depending on the severity of the offence they will be brought before the court to consider whether or not he or she should be granted bail.
